(Our new Pastor is Pastor Charlie Kinch - this page will be updated soon)

Rev. Peter J. Broomall, Sr. has been the minister at Malaga United Methodist Church since July 1, 2006, where he and his wife, Ethel Jo (a.k.a. "E.J."), live next door to Malaga Church in the parsonage. They both have a deep love for the Lord with wonderful senses of humor and an excitement for their journey with the people of Malaga Church.

Pastor Pete's home church was First United Methodist Church of National Park where he was involved with the youth ministry for 15 years. He is an Alumni of the Philadelphia Biblical University and Wesley Theological Seminary. His first appointment in 1996 was Dennisville UMC and South Dennis UMC in Cape May County, N.J. He also served Trinity UMC in Gloucester City, N.J., before his assignment at Malaga UMC in 2007. In 2010, Pastor Pete's assignment included Porchtown Zion United Methodist Church in a shared ministry.

Pastor Pete's philosophy for his current assignment with Malaga - Porchtown Parish is to consider each congregation as part of the same church located on two different campuses - literally around the corner from each other. Each church family retains its own personality and governing body while the shared ministry enriches the lives of all the members of both churches and the community at large as they journey together.

Pastor Pete's top eight priorities are Preaching, Spiritual Growth of Members, Teaching, Stewardship, Evangelism, Mission in Community, Youth Ministry, and Children's Ministry. Both churches participate in the South Jersey Church Cluster consisting of six local Methodist churches: Malaga, Minotola, Newfield, Piney Hollow, Plainville and Porchtown.

Dear Malaga Church Family,
It is a privilege to serve as your pastor and to be in ministry with you. We journey together in making disciples for Christ for the transformation of the world. God certainly has a purpose for us here at Malaga. When I look at the word purpose, I am reminded what Paul says in 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12,

"Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ."

As I look at this passage, we are to walk as Christ did. With all the trappings of this world in which we live we need to become more like Jesus. John Wesley calls it "moving on to perfection." To be worthy of our call, we need to strive to do what is right  as Jesus would - like the question, "What would Jesus do?"

There is no doubt as we serve our community and beyond that we are doing what is good and right while moving on to perfection. May we use this website to pray, encourage and support each other on our journey together in ministry. I look forward to continuing the journey with you.

With Many Blessings,

Pastor Pete
